There used to be a time in my life when I had some major regrets for some of my actions. There is only one action that I wish I could have a re-do. It will never happen since I can not go back in to my past and change my actions. We can only move forward with each new day that is gifted to us. With each new day, we have the opportunity to keep redefining ourselves and carry out better choices for ourselves and those we have contact with.
There are certain situations where we can decide to give someone or something another chance. It has taken years and lots of self-discovery to realize that forgiveness is often better than having second chances. I can clearly see now that second chances are not always the best solution. Sometimes the Universe puts a person or situation in our path to test us and make us learn something about ourselves. If we don't learn the lesson and keep going back, the cycle hardly ever breaks and we experience that pain over and over again. When I forgive myself and others for our actions, I find myself at peace and able to move forward in a healthy way.
These days, I don't live with many regrets at all. Everything that has happened in my life to this moment and every moment from here forward has happened for a reason. Every day, I try to seek out my own rhythm and listen carefully for the awakenings that the universe puts in my heart. Living life with kindness, compassion and a spirit of adventure and possibilities keeps my heart on track and keeps me from having regrets or wishing for a second chance.

Very good point. I keep asking for God to help me move to a point of forgiveness. It will come. I know it will.
Beautiful post. Very centered and calming and reassuring to read your thoughts.
These are lovely thoughts, and beautifully expressed. You are a wise woman!
People don't like to talk about forgiveness these days, but it's so true- we need that in our lives. Both to forgive and be forgiven...
Thank you for this...
It sounds as if you are on the right path and relishing in life's mystery. Your words flow with grace.
Yes...
forgiveness is better than having second chances...
forgiveness for ourselves
forgiveness for others
learning and living
today
it is the learning part that is never certain...how much, how little, how true...
we can do our best to be open to the possibilities...the meaning that we take from our past and the ways in which we can apply it to our present...there is no master teacher guide with the one right answer...oh well ; )
So very true! We are the sum total of all our past experiences. It's what makes us our SELVES. I wouldn't want to go back and change anything, because then I wouldn't be me.
I wanted to wish you a Happy Mother's Day too!!!
Those are beautiful words. Sounds like you have thought about this a lot -- thanks for sharing.
Forging ahead and learning from our past is the only way to go. Life is full of second chances. We just do not see it.

Another Chance
I loved this post because when I read Second Chance, I wasn't sure what I could write. I'm like you, though there are many things I didn't appreciate going through at the time; now, I understand the bigger picture. You are truly wise and perceptive and yes, inspiring to those around you.
Excellent points you make. A very healthy way of going through life.
i really love this post ~ so very similar to my own thoughts on second chances but most i enjoy it because it shows that you are in such a good place inside ...
